The NCAA announced Monday that Minneapolis is among the eight finalists to host the 2017-20 men's Final Fours.
The games would be played at the new, 65,000-seat Vikings stadium, set to open in 2016. Minneapolis hosted two Final Fours at the Metrodome, the most recent in 2001.
The announcement came on the same day Gov. Mark Dayton launched a campaign to bring the 2018 Super Bowl to the new stadium.
The NCAA will announce the results of the bids in November.
