University of Minnesota football head coach Tim Brewster has suspended Cedric McKinley and Tim Dandridge for two games each, citing undisclosed reasons. A press release stated that the players had been suspended âÄúdue to a violation of team rules and policies.âÄù They will sit out SaturdayâÄôs home game against Wisconsin and the Oct. 10 homecoming game against Purdue. Dandridge, a sophomore backup safety, has only one tackle this season, but McKinley, a senior defensive end, is coming off his best game at Minnesota with three tackles and a sack against Northwestern. In the fourth quarter on Saturday with the Gophers leading by four, McKinley forced and recovered a fumble on the WildcatsâÄô 3-yard line to essentially seal the game. Last season, wide receiver Ralph Spry was suspended for similarly unknown rule violations . Spry, who had made only seven catches through seven games in 2008, was suspended for two games in October. After Spry returned from suspension, he was held out of the remaining games as a coachâÄôs decision, and he transferred to Auburn University at the end of the season. On MinnesotaâÄôs depth chart released Monday, McKinley was listed in front of senior Ray Henderson . In SaturdayâÄôs game against Northwestern, defensive ends Henderson, Derrick Onwuachi, Anthony Jacobs and D.L. Wilhite each logged time. Minnesota will release an updated depth chart before BrewsterâÄôs press conference Tuesday.
