Minnesota’s women’s basketball team will get its practice season started at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in an event titled “2004 Hoopla” at Williams Arena.
The event will feature the team’s first official practice, along with a video with highlights of the Gophers’ 2004 Final Four run.
Minnesota made it to the national semifinals last year as a seventh seed before losing to Connecticut in New Orleans.
Since then, Lindsay Whalen has moved on to play for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA. This year’s squad will be introduced at the event.
The event is scheduled to last until 12:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
The Gophers’ exhibition season begins Nov. 3 against an AAU team based out of Wisconsin. They have another exhibition against North Dakota on Nov. 7 before the regular season kicks off Nov. 14 in Seattle at the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Classic versus Nevada-Las Vegas.
