Earlier this week, University police arrested a man for indecent exposure at the St. Paul gym.

According to police reports, the man was sitting at a table alongside the pool with his genitals exposed, masturbating.

Witnesses told police the man was in full view of a children’s swimming class.

Approximately 15 to 20 children – ages ranging from 3 to 14 – were present.

If the man is charged with felony indecent exposure, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Four people broke into the University’s Mineral Resources Research Center this week, police said.

University Deputy Police Chief Steve Johnson said a witness saw two men and two women remove a vent and illegally enter the now abandoned building.

When police arrived on the scene, they announced their presence several times in an attempt to get the trespassers to exit the building.

Johnson said the safety of the four people in the building was the main concern, even though they were committing an illegal act.

“This is a huge building with potentially harmful materials still there,” Johnson said.

The building, which used to house large machinery, now has gaping holes where machines once stood.

The holes in the floor, as well as the absence of security railings, were a significant concern of the officers who had to search for the explorers.

After several hours, police were able to apprehend the four people, who were charged with obstruction of the legal process, trespassing and damage to property.

University police responded to the School of Nursing this week after a suspicious man was reported in the building.

The man asked several people where he could find a certain professor.

According to police reports, the professor had come into contact with the man before, so she locked herself in her office until police arrived.

Police did not find the man after searching the building.
