Two more deaths associated with the H1N1 influenza were announced Wednesday, bringing the total of H1N1 related deaths in Minnesota to three. The Minnesota Department of Health reported that the deaths were an elderly person and a child from the Twin Cities. The child had a bacterial infection and the elderly patient had underlying medical problems and was hospitalized. The previous death in Minnesota was confirmed on June 15, and involved another child in the Twin Cities. The MDH said the two new deaths are not a result of an increase in severity of the H1N1 virus.
