Head coach P.J. Fleck and the Gophers continue to reel in recruits for their 2020 class. After a string of three-star commitments over the last few weeks, the program received a verbal commitment from four-star wide receiver Daniel Jackson.
The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Jackson is the No. 1 ranked wide receiver in the state of Kansas and is an ESPN Top 300 recruit. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 54 wide receiver in the country.
The highly sought-after recruit chose Minnesota over other Power 5 schools such as Notre Dame, Iowa University and Wisconsin. He also had offers from in-state schools Kansas and Kansas State.
He currently attends Bishop Miege High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. As a sophomore he finished the year with 1,270 yards receiving on 54 receptions, according to Max Preps. That is good enough for 23 yards per reception.
According to ESPN, he ran a 4.62 40-yard dash and had a vertical leap of 38 inches. Those numbers figure only to improve as Jackson continues to grow.
According to 247 Sports, the Gophers’ 2020 recruiting class is now ranked 22nd in the nation and fifth in the Big Ten.The Gophers’ 2019 recruiting class ranked 45th nationally and 10th in the Big Ten.
