The Hennepin County attorney's office is currently investigating the possibility of voter fraudin the state legislatiure race between incumbet Rep. Phyllis Kahn and newcomer Mohamud Noor after more than 140 voters used the same Cedar-Riverside address, the Star Tribune reported.
The address used does not belong to a residence, but Cedar Mail Center, a high-traffic mail center and location which also house many businesses, according to KSTP.
The address is one which many Somali-Americans have been using for years, KSTP reported.
"Every person needs to know they can only vote where they live," Brian Rice, attorney for Kahn's campaign said in an e-mail, the Star Tribune reported. "Any person regisered at 419 Cedar cannot be allowed to vote from that address."
This latest development adds more tension in the race after 21-term incumbent Kahn did not receive the DFL endorsement in April because of large support for Noor, the Star Tribune reported.
Absentee voting began Friday, but the primary will be held August 12th to decide the official DFL candidate .
