The University Alumni Association will give stadium supporters a way to become “walking billboards” for an on-campus stadium by distributing 16,000 free buttons at this weekend’s homecoming events.
“We’ve been waiting for the football stadium to come back to campus,” Alumni Association executive director Margaret Carlson said. “Buttons are a tremendously popular way to get people excited.”
Carlson said the association will likely run out of the limited-edition button by the end of the weekend.
The association pledged $1 million to the stadium project in September and will make the buttons available at a scholarship fund-raising auction Friday night, a homecoming breakfast Saturday morning and at the homecoming parade.
