Top men’s basketball recruit Cory Joseph has turned down a scholarship offer to play at Minnesota, according to reports by the Star Tribune and Rivals.com.
Joseph, the third-ranked point guard and No. 7 overall recruit by Rivals and the brother of current Gophers sophomore guard Devoe Joseph, committed to play for Texas on Friday, according to the reports.
Already with four members in their 2010 recruiting class, the Gophers had still sought after Cory Joseph. Junior point guard Al Nolen missed all of the team’s games after the winter break, and Devoe Joseph, who has played point guard for two years with the Gophers after entering as a shooting guard, filled in for the balance of the season.
Cory Joseph, who attended Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) will join high school teammate Tristan Thompson, the fifth-ranked forward by Rivals who signed a letter of intent for the Longhorns in November.
