Minneapolis declared a new snow emergency Monday to continue plowing efforts from the previous emergency, which started Saturday.
After 9 p.m. Monday, there is to be no parking on either side of snow emergency routes until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
On Tuesday, park on the odd side of non-snow emergency routes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. After 8 p.m. residents should move to the even side and remain there until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The blizzard over the weekend was the largest snowfall on record for December in the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Climatology Office.
Rick Jorgenson, supervisor of the Minneapolis Street Department, said snow plows couldnâÄôt clear all residential areas, as many people werenâÄôt able to move their cars down the street or out of parking spots because of the snow.
Jorgenson said the emergency was declared to ensure fire trucks, ambulances and residents would be able to drive through these residential streets safely.
