University of Minnesota head football coach Tim Brewster announced on Friday the promotion of one of his staff members and the resignation of another.
Brewster promoted running backs coach Thomas Hammock to co-offensive coordinator. Hammock will share duties with the recently hired Jeff Horton.
"This promotion is a reward for the tireless work Thomas has done as both a coach and a recruiter," Brewster said in a press release. "Thomas is one of the outstanding young coaches in America and I could not be more pleased to reward him with the title of co-offensive coordinator."
Hammock has been Brewster’s running backs coach since coming to the University in 2007. In 2008, Rivals named Hammock one of the top 10 recruiters in the Big Ten.
Brewster also announced on Friday the resignation of wide receivers coach Richard Hightower. Hightower will be pursuing a coaching position with another organization. An official announcement of Hightower’s hiring will likely come next week from that organization.
Prior to coming to the University, Hightower served on the Houston Texans coaching staff from 2005-08.
"I appreciate all the contributions he made to our program and I wish him continued success," Brewster said in a press release.
