A man robbed the TCF Bank at 1501 University Ave. S.E. in Dinkytown at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Reports from the FBI office in Minneapolis stated that the robber confronted employees as they were opening the bank and forced them at gunpoint to open the bank vault. He then bound and put the employees into a back room and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses describe the robber as a black man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with a medium build. He was wearing a three-quarters length black nylon, down-filled parka with a hood and a black scarf. He was also wearing black gloves, baggy black denim pants and thick-soled black work boots. He was carrying a black nylon bag.
Roger H. Wheeler, special agent for the FBI, requests that anyone who has information regarding this robbery, contact the FBI, the Minneapolis Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
The Minnesota League of Savings and Community Bankers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the robber.
