Law enforcement have since resolved an incident involving a barricaded suspect at The Graduate Hotel Thursday, according to an all-campus alert.
At 1:42 p.m., UMPD officers responded to a report of a person in one of the guest rooms who was in crisis, per an MPD press release. Officers then attempted to make contact with the adult male, who initially refused to open the door. The officers have since made contact, “via different means.”
MPD had staff on scene at the request of University Police, per the release. The alert advised people to stay away from the area.
Another all-campus alert sent later in the evening said the situation was “under control” and “concluded.” Per the 8:38 p.m. notification, the area has been deemed safe to return to.
This comes more than two years after a two-day police stand-off at the same hotel, which resulted in an arrest.
This is a breaking news report. More information will be added as it becomes available.
Correction: A previous version of this article and headline incorrectly identified a police action. Police have a barricaded suspect.
