Fire crews are responding to a fire reported near the University’s Stadium Village area Tuesday morning.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department’s live audio feed, fire departments responded to a building fire near the intersection of Highway 280 and Kasota Avenue Southeast at approximately 11:30 a.m. Initial reports indicate that the fire was at Metro Metals Recycling, a scrap metal facility.
The area is largely industrial with buildings including an auto parts store, an industrial equipment supplier and a trucking company in The vicinity. The location is close to several sets of train tracks as well.
Trucks and responders could be seen dousing the smoke at approximately 11:45 a.m. As of noon, the smoke had largely subsided.
