The University of Minnesota Disability Resource Center decided in May to lay off its seven captionists and contract with an outside vendor full time starting Aug. 15 to generate “significant” cost savings.
Using information from an on-campus weather station and events across the world, faculty members want to educate people on the consequences of changing climate patterns to be better prepared for future events.
Owners say they weren’t consulted before being told about parking and traffic blocks on two busy streets over three weekends in July and August. The traffic blocks are part of a University of Minnesota public safety pilot program.
