The federal government ruled that international students must take at least one in-person course, but have since reversed their guidance. Some students still feel uncertain.

The University of Minnesota supported a lawsuit against the ICE directive.

President Joan Gabel announced Thursday the University will file an amicus curiae brief in the lawsuit.

Announced Monday, the new regulations are different depending on the instructional methods of different universities.

Ahead of fall semester, ongoing plans and conversations are being had to address visa- and travel-related issues for students abroad.

The survey received around 780 responses from international students, and found that 91% are still living in the U.S.

Many international students have given up their OPT application or have not applied. Even those who still chose to apply for OPT might encounter employment difficulties due to the limited spots open for hiring.

Parents said they worry about the high cost of U.S. healthcare — and fear their children may not be able to access it — if infected with COVID-19.

The suspension of visa services worldwide will likely make it more difficult for international students to replace or acquire visas to attend the University.

The University is working with state entities to combat the situation and providing some Chinese international students with tuition and travel accommodations in response to the outbreak.
