The changes come after a settlement between the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR), MPD and the city of Minneapolis was reached on March 31.

The agreement comes nearly three years after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd.
The University is also hiring more community safety officers, expanding the Gopher Chauffeur service and implementing additional street lights and cameras.

BREAKING: UMN partners with state patrol on campus safety

The Minnesota State Patrol will start patrolling areas surrounding the University of Minnesota campus to assist the University of Minnesota Police Department and the Minneapolis Police Department.
The U.S. Department of Justice is still investigating whether MPD engages in a pattern of discrimination.

Minneapolis City Council approves contract for organizations to pay for extra police
