The policy turns existing guidelines on University research involving Indigenous peoples into an official policy, the first of its kind at any university.
The regent nomination joint committee voted on candidate recommendations for four open positions on the University of Minnesota Board of Regents Wednesday night.
Candidates for the University of Minnesota Board of Regents from Congressional District 8 and one at-large seat share about themselves and their vision for the board leading up to this spring’s election.
Out of the 29 applicants, some notable names include former regent Michael Hsu, law professor Richard Painter and USG president Flora Yang. Regents Steve Sviggum and Darrin Rosha did not reapply for their seats.
In addition to discussing proposed budget requests, the Board of Regents welcomed the newest regent to the board during their September meetings on Thursday and Friday.
