This weekend is the Minnesota Beard-Off, a competition of Minnesota’s most spectacular beards. As reported by Minnesota Public Radio, the contest really follows the likes of an art contest.
Those who enter talk about what they find visually appealing about beards. Some contestants are inspired by Civil War photographs or by family members from bygone eras.
According to the Pioneer Press, The Minnesota Beard-Off has previously been housed at the St.Paul Turf Club. However, so many people showed up that the event had to be moved to a bigger venue. This year’s contest will be held at First Avenue today, February 9. Doors open at 8pm and the contest starts at 9pm.
The contest is not only just for men. Women can enter as well, with fake facial hair, as part of the “Freestyle” category.
The event is 18+ and is $10 at the door.
