Minnesota’s softball team split four weekend games at the Coastal Carolina Tournament this weekend.
The Gophers (4-8) won their first two games in South Carolina on Friday, defeating Pittsburgh 3-1 and Coastal Carolina 3-2. They proceeded to drop their last two games, falling to Virginia Tech 6-1 and Pittsburgh 4-0 on Saturday.
Pitchers Briana Hassett and Katie Dalen each went 1-1 in the tournament. Hassett tossed a complete game in the win over Pittsburgh and took the loss against Virginia Tech while Dalen notched a win against Coastal Carolina before losing against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Minnesota will play again next weekend when the team competes at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta.
Women take one of two in Missouri
Minnesota’s women’s tennis team split a pair of weekend dual meets in Columbia, Mo.
The Gophers (3-5) fell by a count of 5-2 to Missouri on Sunday. Minnesota received wins from Nischela Reddy and Danielle Mousseau.
On Saturday, Minnesota topped Montana State 5-2. The Gophers swept three doubles matches to win the doubles point.
In singles play, Minnesota’s Reddy, Ida Malmberg, Mariana Splica and Mousseau all won their matches. The Gophers will travel to Louisville, Ky., next weekend for dual meets against Louisville and South Alabama.
