The all-male Propeller Theater Company is hitting the Guthrie’s Wurtele Thrust stage tonight at 7:30 PM to begin their two-show engagement at the theater. Critically acclaimed for their visceral performances and gender-bending style, the British group is attempting to tell Shakespeare as honestly as they can, focusing on the characters and the journey of the play rather than era-gimmicks or forced modernization. They’ll be performing “The Taming of the Shrew” and “Twelfth Night” in repertory, and hopefully will be adding a nice variety to the usual Shakespearean fare that the Guthrie places in their season. Their entire tour is also supporting Target Ovarian Cancer, and the ensemble will be performing during intermission periods of "The Taming of the Shrew" in order to raise funds for the charity.
