Starting 6 p.m. Friday, University of Minnesota students can ride transit for free by showing their U-cards, according to a press release from the Metro Transit.
Free rides will be offered from the Apple Valley Transit Station to the Mall of America and from there to Target Field Station on the city's light-rail. Buses are also a part of the deal.
The offer stems from Metro Transit's U-Pass, which allows students to ride Metro Transit buses, lightrails and other buses providing transportation around Twin Cities suburbs for less than $100 a semester.
