The City of Minneapolis will begin sweeping streets around the University of Minnesota this week to clear them of fall leaves and debris.
Cars parked on the streets scheduled for sweeping will be towed to the Minneapolis Impound Lot. Parking is banned from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the day the street is scheduled to be swept, according to the city’s website.
In Marcy-Holmes, sweeping will begin Fri. Oct. 25 on east-west running streets and occur during the week of Oct. 28 for north-south running avenues. Sweeping will also occur during the week of Oct. 28 on most streets in the Southeast Como and Prospect Park neighborhoods.
In Cedar-Riverside, sweeping will occur during the week of Nov. 4 for north-south running avenues and during the week of Nov. 11 for east-west streets. A map showing when the city will sweep specific streets is available online.
The city website says crews will post signs indicating when they’ll sweep each street at least 24 hours before people have to move their cars. Anyone whose car is towed can call the impound lot at (612) 673-5777.
