The Gophers volleyball team will not be playing Michigan as scheduled this Friday and Saturday because of a pause in team activity by the Wolverines “due to health and safety concerns in the Michigan program,” according to a University of Minnesota Athletics press release.
Coming into the season, Minnesota was set to play 22 matches in a conference-only schedule. After completing its first 10 matches with no issues, these will be the first two matches the Gophers will have postponed this season. Both teams agreed on the postponement and are working with the conference to find rescheduling options.
Minnesota will now continue practicing this week and next to prepare for its upcoming road matches against Ohio State. The No. 19 Buckeyes are a bit of a surprise this season, as they have jumped out to a 9-0 start.
