The Gophers huddle to celebrate defeating Oral Roberts three sets to none at the Maturi Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019.

For the second consecutive week, the fifth-ranked Gophers volleyball team will not be playing its weekend series of matches.

Minnesota’s athletics department announced Thursday that the team’s matches slated for March 5-6 against No. 19 Ohio State were postponed amid health and safety concerns within the Minnesota program. Both teams mutually agreed on the postponement.

Last weekend, the Gophers were scheduled to play Michigan, but those matches were postponed due to health and safety concerns within the Michigan program. The Gophers volleyball team hasn’t played a match since Feb. 21 when it lost to Nebraska in straight sets, after the team rattled off nine straight wins to start the season.

Next on the docket for Minnesota are matches against Illinois on March 12-13 at Maturi Pavilion. With the two postponements, the return to action will come after about a two-week layoff for Minnesota.
