Senior Teddy Skillings prepares to go live during a late-night shift at Radio K on Friday, Feb. 5. Assuming the name "DJ Wyzeguy", Skillings describes his time working at the University radio station as an outlet and way to channel his passion for music.

Sophomore Sammy Miller sits on her bed in her Comstock Hall single dorm room on Friday, Jan. 29. Miller, who has borderline personality disorder, seeks treatment for her illness outside of the services offered at the University. Miller says her therapist equates the work she does in therapy to taking a five-credit college course.

Head Coach J Robinson delivers a speech to the wrestling team, minutes before the start of their home dual at the Sports Pavilion. A 1972 Olympian himself, Robinson has lead the Gophers wrestling team for thirty years.

Immediately following their weigh-in, the wrestling team enjoys a hot meal to fuel them through their dual meet, less than one hour away.

Junior Sam Brancale silently waits, hopping between feet just moments before taking to the wrestling mat at the Sports Pavillon to compete in front of over two thousand fans.

Stripped down to briefs, the wrestling team awaits individual inspection by a match official as well as weigh-ins inside their locker room in the Sports Pavilion.

Moments before weighing in, redshirt freshman Skyler Petry displays his trimmed fingernails to an official. In addition to having a clean-shaven face, the regulation is just one of various standards wrestlers must meet to gain admittance for competition.

Sophomore Jake Short shows his cauliflower ear, a unique scar that is common among wrestlers. The scar forms upon traumatic impact to the ear, damaging cartilage, which then fills with fluid that can be drained. Short, who said he has been wrestling since he could walk, describes the cauliflower ear as a badge of honor and a symbol for the sacrifices that wrestlers make.

Left to right, Fredy Stroker, Colin Carr and Chris Pfarr opt to do some conditioning exercises, getting in a sweat at the end of a team practice. An integral aspect of the sport, weight management is second nature to most wrestlers, who know that an extra ounce on the scale means disqualification from competing within their weight class.

The wrestling team runs circles around their practice room for a cardio warm-up at the start of practice.

By nature of the sport, wrestlers need to be both heavy and strong within their weight class, in addition to being both agile and nimble. These dualities make wrestling a challenge to train for, as the athletes strive to excel on both sides of the spectrum.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton emerged briefly from his residence, where community members gathered on Thursday and spoke personally with the family of Philando Castile.

Valerie Castile, mother of Philando Castile, is embraced after speaking outside of J.J. Hill Montessori School in St. Paul on Thursday. Castile was an employee of the school, where he worked as a cafeteria supervisor.

Cynthia Weitzel sits in her artist studio at the Anderson Center in Red Wing, Minn., where she has had a permanent residency since 2011. In 2014, Weitzel founded and helped coordinate a monthlong residency program for deaf artists, the first of it's kind in the country. A deaf artist herself, Weitzel describes the residency as a beautiful and unique opportunity. This past June, she was able to successfully host the second Deaf Artists Residency Program at the Anderson Center.
