Local string-thumpers Pert Near Sandstone are bringing old-time music to new audiences, and burning down the barn while they’re at it.
Eric Utne, founder of Utne Reader Magazine, recently published a book titled "Brenda, My Darling: The Love Letters of Fridtjof Nansen to Brenda Ueland." A painting of Brenda Ueland, Utne's step-grandmother, hangs on a wall in his home in South Minneapolis.
