Dear Dr. Date,
I am dumb. Really dumb. As in, moved into my dorm room a few days ago and hooked up with my roommate last night dumb. I was the only openly non-straight person in my Southern small town, so I think the rush of finding out that there’s more people like me in college and the fact that one of them LIVES with me made me make stupid decisions. From our discussions before the hookup, I know she’s definitely not someone I would want to date, so I don’t know where to go from here. How am I supposed to deal with this?!
Sincerely,
Risque Roommates
Dear Risque Roommates,
Oh god. And there’s no chance you can switch rooms? If not, you made your bed, now you have to lie in it (without your roommate). Sit down with your roommate and explain that while you enjoyed the experience, you made a mistake, you’d like to move past it and you just want to be friends. Maybe go over to your hookup’s place in the future — and make sure it’s in a different building than your dorm.
Sincerely,
Dr. Date
