Dear Dr. Date,
I went out with this girl last week who seemed like the perfect match. We had good chemistry, but most important, within the first thirty minutes, she insinuated we would end up at my place later. We had planned on a movie and drinks, so I decided to take her to this bar I go to pretty often. She’s 21, and I’m 20, so I pulled out my fake to buy us both a drink.
Well, apparently this bar has some new staff, because the server ended up calling over the manager to check my ID. I was trying to talk my way out of it from the beginning (yes, I pulled the “Dude, this is my real drivers license, how am I going to get home?!”), but all they did was tell me to call the cops if I really needed it back. Needless to say, this turned into a 20-minute encounter during which she sat on her phone, pretending she didn’t know me. I tried to salvage the date by ordering food, but they kicked us out after taking my fake and told us not to come back. She immediately called an Uber home and told me maybe next time.
Dr. Date, I’m humiliated, but I did like her! How can I convince her that I’m worth a second date?
Sincerely,
Blarney Boy
Dear Blarney Boy,
YIKES. I’m sure it was embarrassing for you, but seeing you argue with management for 20 minutes was humiliating for her. To be honest, I don’t think you can salvage this one. You can always make a joke about hitting her up when you turn 21 (and text her the next day saying it’s your birthday), but don’t get your hopes up.
Sincerely,
Dr. Date
