Federal immigration agents shot and killed a man, later identified as Alex Pretti, in South Minneapolis this morning.
Agents deployed tear gas on the crowd that formed after the shooting. Even with the deployment of tear gas, protesters remain in the area, moving back when the tear gas is deployed and going back in when it has cleared out. There are reports of people being taken away in handcuffs at the scene.
Protesters continued with the chant “Go home now,” echoing down 27th and Nicollet Avenue.
In addition to tear gas, mace, less-than-lethal rounds and pepper balls are being used to clear the crowd that seems to be calming down a little. EMS is on the scene for an unknown person, with agents escorting them through.
Members of the Sheriff’s department arrived on the scene and were confronted by protesters.
The Minnesota Daily is at the scene.

Victoria you really need to get your facts straight befor you spew your garbage!!
The only thing that ICE did wrong is not arrest him a week before when Pretti was spitting on them, breaking out the tail lights of their vehicle!! Said that he got shot however you need to listen when given and order and not put up a fight. Put up a fight and you will loose every time just as in this case. Ever heard FAFO
Law enforcement needs to arrest more of these agitators so ICE can do their jobs!!

Minnesota will live up to the examples our neighbors, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, offer us. ICE is killing our best – our mothers, our defenders of life, our helpers. This must stop now. The people of Minnesota will prevail.

I’m here before individuals with hate in their hearts, who refuse to see the truth before them and instead regurgitate whatever their cult leader tells them, comes here and belies that the man deserved it.
That a man who not in any way presenting himself to be a threat, whos sole crime seems to be CARRYING a gun, a right that conservatives love bringing up as enshrined in the Constitution, was in the process being brutalized by federal agents, and didn’t even have the gun on him at the time of his murder, was somehow perceived to be enough of a threat to deserve execution.
This is not justice. This is terrorism, but people will excuse it because it hurts the people they hate.
