The University of Minnesota’s Teamsters Local 320, a Minneapolis workers’ union chapter, is likely to turn down the University’s final offer, according to a chapter member who shared a draft statement with the Minnesota Daily.
The Teamsters announced in early August they filed an intent to strike with the University as labor bargaining negotiations stagnated. While votes on the University’s offer continue on the Duluth and Crookston campuses, the Teamsters said the offer will be voted down and the final ballot count initiated on Friday.

The strike was initially intended to begin August 20, but Teamsters extended negotiations to conduct a vote on the University’s offer given to the Union on August 19, according to WDIO news.
According to the statement, the Teamsters’ negotiators are seeking an agreement that matches or exceeds the 3.5% wage increases offered to other unions. The Teamsters also are seeking maintenance of other bargaining table agreements.
“Our message to the university is simple,” the Teamsters’ statement said. “We will not bargain against ourselves or water down our proposals any further.”
The University offer is due to expire September 5. If the University does not agree to the outlined terms, the union plans to begin its strike, according to the Minnesota Daily.
More information about the University’s offer can be found at the University Office of Human Resources.
Correction: A previous version of the article stated the strike would be initiated on Friday. This is incorrect; the Teamsters will not be counting ballots until Friday.
Correction: A previous version of the article stated the Teamsters are seeking no change in the September 5 expiration date. This is incorrect and has been removed.

Looks like if the job is good enough or does not pay enough they need to look for a new job somewhere else and stop acting like juvenile delinquents……………
President, Dr. Cunningham Just replace them with new employees that would be grateful.

What is the work scope of the Teamster employees? What other unions work on campus and what is their scope? Will the other unions honor the Teamster picket line? Please ask these questions and print the answers.

What % of a pay rate increase are they striking over? Wasn’t the offer to match the rest of the University’s annual pay rate? Seems like a lot of the information for this story was left out.

Hope they do. But also, UMN Teamsters, AFSCME 3800, and some civil service workers deserve a new, unified, class struggle Union that isn’t yellow.

Terrible Reporting!!!
You have changed parts of the story several times and it still is not correct information. Furthermore, it’s funny how they say “anticipate voting down the offer”, since it is supposed to be a secret ballot and they are not going to start counting until Friday. What a joke just like everything else the 320 Local does. Minnesota needs to become a right to work state. It’s such a waste of my money paying fair share to these clowns.

The Daily is using clickbait titles??
“Teamsters turn down final UMN offer” =/= “Teamsters likely to turn down final UMN offer”. Supported bym “the Teamsters will not be counting ballots until Friday”
Geez.

As an alum and ex-employee of the U, good for them. Seems like a good time to remember that President Cunningham makes around 1M a year, and she’s only one of the 20 or so people around campus who make more than 500K a year.
